Catriona Gray has unveiled her latest creative venture—this time not on stage or in front of the camera, but through furniture design.
In collaboration with Genteelhome, a leading Pampanga-based bespoke furniture brand, Gray introduces the ‘Payak Collection,’ a limited-edition outdoor furniture line that champions Filipino craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural heritage.
Officially launched at Genteelhome’s showroom at The Podium, Ortigas, the Payak Collection marks the brand’s first foray into outdoor furniture. It also highlights Gray’s growing footprint as a designer—infusing artistry with deeply personal and cultural meaning.
Derived from the Filipino word for “simple,” the Payak Collection reflects a design philosophy where elegance is rooted in intention and purpose. Crafted from premium materials like teak wood, high-performance fabric, and lampakanay rope, each piece is designed to withstand both the elements and time, while telling a story rooted in Filipino identity.
“This collection isn’t just about aesthetics,” said Gray. “It’s about creating functional pieces that speak to who we are, where we come from, and what we value. For me, every detail must have meaning.”
Each piece in the collection draws from Gray’s personal experiences and Filipino traditions:
- Mayon Lounge Chair mirrors the flowing form and fiery palette of Mayon Volcano, honoring Gray’s Bicolano roots.
- Pinay Accent Chair, her personal favorite, was inspired by the baro’t saya’s sleeves and traditional Yakan weaving, representing strength and grace.
- Balik Tanaw Side Table allows for keepsake displays—born from Gray’s desire to preserve a gifted swatch from Nana Magdalena of Ilocos.
- Beh and She Side Tables celebrate friendship, adorned with brass details reminiscent of T’boli bangles.
- Kapit-Bisig Shelving Unit incorporates colored abaca weaving and upright teak columns, symbolizing unity between heritage and contemporary design.
For Katrina Blanca De Leon, principal designer and CEO of Genteelhome, this collaboration is more than a design project—it’s a movement.
“Working with Catriona was organic. She’s deeply committed to our shared mission of highlighting Filipino artistry,” said De Leon. “With Payak, we wanted to redefine luxury outdoor living while celebrating local craftsmanship.”
Genteelhome has long been celebrated for its handcrafted pieces that combine sustainability, beauty, and narrative. This collection further cements their place as a modern champion of Filipino design.
As a Miss Universe titleholder, artist, and advocate, Gray sees this collaboration as a new platform to continue celebrating Filipino identity. “Being Filipino isn’t just where I come from—it’s who I am. It shapes everything I do,” she said.
She added, “This capsule collection is my love letter to our culture—an invitation for more people to appreciate our stories, our artistry, and our soul.”
With vibrant fabrics, handwoven textures, and bold silhouettes, the Payak Collection offers more than design—it offers connection. Each piece becomes a conversation starter, not only reflecting the homeowner’s taste but also a slice of Filipino culture.
