Phenomenal ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11’ love team Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra are taking the next big step in their post-‘PBB’ careers, headlining their first-ever series under acclaimed director Ted Boborol.
The upcoming 10-episode project will be streamed exclusively on iWantTFC.
Boborol, known for his work in launching fan-favorite love teams like JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto) and AshDres (Ashtine Olviga and Andres Muhlach), is now set to shape the onscreen journey of “JMFyang,” as fans fondly call the duo.
The announcement was made during the series’ story conference held last Thursday. Prior to that, JM and Fyang faced the media during the Star Magic Spotlight press conference, where they opened up about their dreams, chemistry, and upcoming projects.
“Movie, of course. ‘Yun ‘yung dream namin — magka-movie kami together,” said Fyang, to which JM added with enthusiasm, “Not just any movie, ha—blockbuster! We’ve been working on improving our craft. That’s really the dream.”
Both actors expressed their desire to explore a range of genres beyond romance. “Gusto rin namin sila saktan kahit papaano,” JM quipped, as Fyang nodded in agreement, saying they want to do it all—from kilig to dramatic, heart-wrenching scenes.
Apart from their upcoming series, JMFyang has been tapped as part of the voice cast for the Tagalog-dubbed version of ‘Picnic’, a 2024 South Korean film distributed locally by Nathan Studios. They’ll join veteran stars Nova Villa, Ces Quesada, and Bodjie Pascua in this heartwarming film about friendship and aging. Picnic will hit local cinemas this May.
“Kapag nagda-dub, kailangang pumasok sa ibang mundo… kami mismo ang nag-a-adjust upang maipakita ang tamang emosyon ng mga karakter,” Fyang shared about their voice acting experience.
Fans of the KimPau love team will also catch a glimpse of JM and Fyang in the 2025 rom-com ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’, starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino. The two make a special appearance in the film, which has been receiving rave reviews from audiences.
On April 5, they will reunite with their fellow PBB Gen 11 housemates for ‘The Unforgettabolabolabol General Assembly’ at SM North EDSA Skydome.
The pair recently made waves at the Bench Body of Work fashion show, confidently strutting in matching beach-ready outfits. JM revealed that he prepared intensely for the event, while Fyang playfully admitted, “Ang tamad ko mag-gym,” promising to begin working out by April.
Their first onscreen appearance as a tandem was in the music video for Regine Velasquez’s single ‘Wherever You Are,’ released in January. That video, filled with romantic visuals and subtle chemistry, was a preview of what the duo could bring to the screen—and it only heightened anticipation for their official acting projects.
Fyang, the ‘PBB Gen 11’ big winner, has a jam-packed year ahead filled with both solo and tandem projects. But she and JM are determined to make each moment count—and make their mark not just as reality show alumni, but as legitimate actors in the industry.
