Kapuso actor David Licauco is grieving the loss of his grandfather, renowned author, parapsychologist, and columnist Jaime Licauco, who passed away this week.
In a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, David honored his grandfather’s legacy with a message full of love and gratitude:
“The wisest man I knew — always chasing greatness, always sharing his wisdom. Thank you for the life talks, the lessons, the power of your mind. I’ll hold them close, always. Rest easy, Lolo.”
Jaime Licauco, widely regarded as the country’s leading authority on the paranormal, inner mind development, and Philippine mysticism, was a long-time columnist at the Philippine Daily Inquirer. His most notable works include ‘Understanding the Psychic Powers of Man,’ ‘True Encounters With the Unknown,’ and ‘Soul Mates: Karma and Reincarnation.’ He wrote 17 bestselling books and hundreds of articles exploring the depths of spirituality and human consciousness.
He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Sophia L. Eggleston and husband Steve, Jolan Alexander C. Licauco and wife Eden, Jaime Raphael Licauco and wife Timmy, and Jason Licauco. His grandchildren—Elan, David, Jean, James, Thomas, Francesca—and great-granddaughter Jimin were among his greatest joys.
A memorial service for Jaime Licauco will be held from May 17 to 19 at Loyola Chapels in Loyola Memorial Park, Sucat, Parañaque. Nightly prayers will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place on May 20 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the same park.
David Licauco, best known for his roles in ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ and ‘Pulang Araw’, continues to earn praise for his performances. His latest role as Deacon Sam in ‘Samahan ng mga Makasalanan’ reflects a spiritual depth that now echoes even more personally with the passing of his grandfather.
