Showbiz insider and talent manager Ogie Diaz opened up about his recent encounter with Kapamilya star Daniel Padilla, revealing that he felt a bit uneasy when they came face-to-face at the ABS-CBN Ball.
In the May 3 episode of his vlog ‘Ogie Diaz Inspires,’ Ogie recalled being introduced to Daniel by the actor’s mother, Karla Estrada.
“’No’ng nilapit mo ako kay DJ, parang ako ‘yong nahiya. Kasi parang ‘tingnan mo ‘to, nag-eeffort si Mareng Karla para makapag-usap kami ni DJ.’ Pero si DJ talagang hindi pa handa no’ng gabing ‘yon,” he shared.
The moment carried extra weight, considering that Ogie was one of the first to talk publicly about the rumored split of the longtime reel-and-real couple KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla) in 2023—an issue that drew massive attention and backlash online. Ogie had also previously claimed that Daniel was allegedly seeing fellow actress Andrea Brillantes, adding fuel to the fire at the time.
Despite this, Karla assured that neither she nor her son holds grudges against those who’ve spoken critically about them.
“Hindi,” Karla answered when asked if she was mad at Ogie. “Iba ang galit sa parang nairita, or nabuwisit, or nagtampo… Siyempre may mga salitang hindi nakakatuwa. Pero mas malawak ang pang-unawa ko. Tinitingnan ko pa rin kung saan tayo nag-umpisa para maging magkaibigan.”
She even joked about how much content Ogie made from the issue.
“Nakamagkano ka sa mga content mo sa akin? Wala ka man lang pasaging, paprutas, ha!” she quipped.
Although Daniel has remained largely silent on the issue, the former couple eventually confirmed their breakup, though neither offered full details as to the cause.
