yufin Unlocks Digital Growth for the Philippines’ Smallest Businesses

Across many underserved communities in the Philippines, nano and micro businesses—often run by sari-sari store owners, solopreneurs, and housewives—face persistent challenges: limited access to digital tools, affordable capital, and reliable financial services. These everyday entrepreneurs power much of the country’s local consumption, yet they are often left to navigate unreliable supply chains and high-interest informal loans just to stay afloat.

yufin helps small businesses thrive by giving them the digital tools, financial services and income opportunities they need to grow sustainably.

Recognizing this gap, yufin is changing the game. Founded in 2022, the pioneering platform is helping small businesses not only survive but thrive—by giving them the digital tools, financial services, and income opportunities they need to grow sustainably. Through services like digital payments, embedded financing, and reselling of in-demand products and services, yufin empowers everyday Filipinos to transform their microenterprises into resilient, revenue-generating ventures.

“I recently started using yufin after a field ambassador introduced it to me and guided me through how it works. It’s been a huge help—I no longer need to commute, and it’s saved me a lot of time that I can now spend on more important tasks,” said Jaychel Didal, a sari-sari store owner in Davao City.

Through its Distribution as a Service (DaaS) model, yufin turns community-based merchants into digital distribution hubs. Store owners can now use their phones as a Point of Sale (POS) and get actionable insights on their shoppers and supplies, resell services such as insurance, OTT content, and transport tickets in affordable sachet formats, and access working capital that is embedded in their daily tasks, to invest in their growth. One standout feature, yuOrder, has become an essential tool for over 500 merchants every week in Davao city, helping them restock products with ease from their trusted wholesalers while avoiding costly lending traps.

As of today, yufin has over 30,000 registered merchants, with monthly gross transaction volume and revenue growing by more than 25% month-on-month. These are not just numbers—they represent families with better financial footing, communities with stronger local economies, and businesses once on the edge of survival now scaling sustainably.

“Before I started using yufin, I often ran out of items, and customers stopped coming because I couldn’t provide what they were looking for. Now, they don’t need to look for other stores—everything they need is here. That’s why they keep buying from me. What started as just an eatery has now grown with a small store!” said Arlene and Rabanad Goka, a couple-entrepreneur from Davao City.

To sustain this momentum, Yufin Philippines is integrating intelligent cloud-based solutions to optimize operations, forecast demand, and deliver more tailored support to its merchant base. One such pioneering service is its wAIs cart that builds a complete, tailored basket for small businesses for their weekly budget with one click using machine learning under the hood. This digital backbone is powered by Microsoft, whose tools like Azure and Power BI allow yufin to analyze real-time trends, streamline supply chains, and scale its infrastructure as demand grows.

Shubhrendu Khoche, Co-Founder and CEO of Yufin Philippines, adds: “yufin is on a mission to double the monthly income of more than ten million households by empowering the smallest businesses. We want to make sure that sari-sari store owners, solopreneurs, and housewives can grow their businesses with confidence—because when they succeed, their communities succeed too.”

Looking ahead, yufin is expanding its digital marketplace and embedded financing programs, working with trusted financial institutions to bring affordable and embedded financing options to more small businesses. Partnerships with banks, insurance providers, logistics firms, and digital content platforms allow yufin merchants to earn commissions and diversify their income—all from the comfort of their community shops.

As yufin prepares for its seed round and pushes forward with its ‘10x in 6 months’ growth plan, its partnership with Microsoft ensures that the platform can keep up with growing demand while staying grounded in its purpose—creating real economic opportunity for those too often left behind.

“At Microsoft Philippines, we are deeply committed to fostering financial inclusion and empowering communities through technology. Our partnership with yufin embodies this mission by delivering intelligent cloud solutions that enable small businesses to thrive in the digital economy. By supporting yufin’s innovative Distribution as a Service platform, we are helping sari-sari store owners, solopreneurs, and housewives access the tools and resources they need to grow their businesses confidently. Together, we are not only driving economic opportunities at the grassroots level but also reinforcing our shared vision of creating sustainable growth and prosperity for underserved communities across the Philippines,” said Microsoft Philippines CEO, Peter Maquera.
