Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla continues to make waves internationally as he earns his second nomination for Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2025.
The recognition comes in light of his compelling performance as Andres Malvar in ABS-CBN’s hit action series ‘Incognito’.
“I appreciate all the comments about that particular scene,” Padilla shared during a media interview at Shangri-La The Fort, Taguig City. “Mahirap ‘yung mga ganung eksena pero I just like my craft and I’m just doing my job.”
This marks the second time the actor has been nominated in the same category — the first was for his role in the rom-com ‘2 Good 2 Be True’ alongside Kathryn Bernardo.
His nomination was officially acknowledged in a press release by the Seoul Drama Awards committee, which stated: “Asian countries’ nominees are also noteworthy. Kentaro Sakaguchi, who has a wide fan base with many popular works such as Farewell, Even After, Daniel Padilla, who is called the box office guarantee check in the Philippines, Bai Yu, who rose to stardom with his impressive bromance in the Chinese drama Requiem, Namtan Tipnari who played two roles in the Thai drama Pluto, and Annie Wong from Malaysia are competing for the award.”
The award will be based on fan voting, which began on June 21 and will run until July 20. The awarding ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 2, 2025, at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea. With voting now underway, Padilla’s fans have already begun rallying their support to secure the award for the actor.
Padilla has received high praise for a particularly emotional scene with co-star Louise Abuel (as Diego Aguinaldo), which many fans and critics believe could earn him a Best Actor win in the future.
“Hindi biro shoots namin. Sa hirap, ginhawa magkasama kami sa lahat,” he added, reflecting on the strong bond among the Incognito cast.
The actor also revealed that he’s developed a fondness for coffee — thanks to early morning tapings for the series and the influence of his co-star Ian Veneracion.
“Actually, natuto akong magkape noong magsimula itong Incognito kasi kung magsimula kami, alas-kuwatro ng umaga lagi, talagang buhay sundalo,” he said.
“Dahil ang mga kasama ko, lalo si Tito Ian… tinuruan niya akong magkape sa umaga. Nakakakuha ka talaga ng energy.”
Padilla’s growing appreciation for coffee has also led to a thriving partnership with Cebu-based brand Don Macchiatos, which he recently renewed. As the brand prepares to expand internationally, Padilla will soon travel to the UAE to support their launch in Dubai.
“I’ll stay with action muna. Enjoy ako sa ginagawa ko now,” Padilla affirmed — a statement that reflects both his passion for his craft and the growing global reach of his projects.
