Award-winning actor Jericho Rosales is calling out irresponsible tourists for disrespecting nature, after encountering piles of trash at a beach in Tandag, Surigao del Sur, where he was recently invited for a gig.
On Instagram, Jericho—known for his outdoor lifestyle and advocacy—shared photos and videos of the garbage he found scattered along the shore: deodorant bottles, plastic wrappers, slippers, fast food cups, and even a used condom.
Using his trademark wit, he posted the photos with pointed captions that quickly gained traction among netizens. On one bottle of deodorant, he wrote: “Mabango nga kilikili mo, ang baho naman ng trato mo sa kalikasan.”
In another post featuring a similar item, he quipped: “Ang puti nga ng kilikili mo, ang itim naman ng budhi mo sa kalikasan.”
Addressing the condom he found dumped by the water, he wrote: “Proteksyon sa mga nagkakalat kailangan din natin.”
He didn’t spare the fast food litter either, captioning a plastic cup with: “Magbago na po tayo.”
And on a rubber slipper left to decay by the sea: “Kahit tiyan ng buwaya, ‘di kayang tunawin ito.”
Jericho also posted a video message, encouraging Filipinos to work together in preserving the country’s natural beauty.
“Mga kababayan, ganda ng mga beaches natin, ‘no? Alagaan din natin. Kahit mahirap ang buhay, kapag malinis ang paligid, nakakagaan ng isip.”
“Tulong-tulong tayo maglinis ng karagatan. Malinis na dagat, maganda turismo, equals trabaho. Pero kung ganyan, wala. Sayang. Pwede pa nating ma-enjoy ‘to. Pagkakitaan mong maayos.”
“Kaya natin ‘yan. Rock and roll lang.”
Netizens praised Jericho for using his platform to raise environmental awareness, with many echoing his call to action.
