Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara opened up about the importance of choosing oneself first—an empowering takeaway she received from seasoned actress and beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez.
During the media launch of her latest GMA Network drama series ‘Beauty Empire’, Alcantara reflected on a key life lesson she learned from Gutierrez, whom she stars alongside in the show.
“Always choose yourself. Ikaw muna, bago ‘yung ibang tao. ‘Yun ‘yung palagi niyang advice sa akin. Actually hindi lang sa akin, sa aming dalawa ni Barbie [Forteza],” Kyline shared.
“And every time you get lost, palagi mo lang hanapin ang sarili mo,” she added.
While she chose not to address her recent breakup with basketball player Kobe Paras, Alcantara appeared poised and composed, with fans noting how she seemed to have gracefully moved forward. Her fresh and radiant presence during the event was a testament to her personal growth.
In ‘Beauty Empire’, Kyline plays Shari De Jesus, a feisty, social media-savvy beauty CEO mentored by Velma Imperial (Ruffa Gutierrez). She goes head-to-head with Noreen Alfonso (Barbie Forteza), a rags-to-riches beauty entrepreneur who is out to take down her rivals. Despite being close friends in real life, Forteza and Alcantara promise intense on-screen rivalry in the drama.
Barbie, who was also present at the event, described the show as a heart-filled story about family, fashion, and beauty. “With fashion and beauty at its core, we will tackle murder mystery, love for family, and revenge,” she said.
The series is a collaboration between GMA Network, Viu Philippines, and CreaZion Studios. It premiered on Viu on June 16 and will begin airing on GMA Prime starting July 7, weeknights at 9:35 p.m.
