SAFC, in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross and the Pasig LGU, successfully held its second blood donation drive of the year. This event was in support of the global celebration “World Blood Donor Day”, with the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope, Together We Save Lives”.This initiative is under the Life Hero campaign of SAFC Heroes, the corporate social responsibility arm of the company, which aims to promote health and wellness to the Filipino community. The activity follows the success of the first blood donation drive held earlier this year in February. This tallies SAFC’s blood donation efforts to a sum of 240 patients, including cancer patients and newborn babies in need of blood transfusions.
SAFC President and CEO Kevin John Cabanban, emphasized the importance of the company’s continued involvement in this life-saving cause. “At SAFC, we want to impart to our employees the importance of giving back to the community,” said Cabanban. “This is not just about helping others, but also about creating a culture of giving that impacts the lives of those around us. We’re committed to doing our part in supporting the health and well-being of our communities.”The event took place at SAFC’s head office in Pasig City and was participated in by employees.
Dr. Edmundo Marra of the Philippine Red Cross expressed his appreciation for SAFC’s dedication. “We are extremely grateful for the support of SAFC. Their efforts help replenish vital blood stocks needed for surgeries, accidents, and treatments across the country,” Dr. Marra stated. “This partnership is crucial in ensuring that we have the necessary resources to save lives.”
In addition to the blood donations, the event also serves as a reminder of the critical need for regular donations to support hospitals and health facilities throughout the country. Last year, SAFC conducted three successful drives, helping over 500 patients in total. This year, SAFC aims to exceed that number, with a third blood donation drive scheduled for November 2025.
The initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s push for a consistent, year-round commitment to blood donation, emphasizing that a reliable blood supply is essential for medical care in every community.
“We are proud to be a part of a global movement and to be making a direct impact on people’s lives,” Cabanban added. “Our goal is simple: to inspire more Filipinos to take part in blood donation and to help those in need, one donation at a time.”
With the continued success of these efforts, SAFC is poised to play a significant role in expanding the culture of giving hope through these blood donation drives in the country, proving that even small actions can have a life-changing impact on others.
