Rhian Ramos is all smiles and full of gratitude as 2025 unfolds with a wave of blessings and projects, marking what she says is truly her year.

“Every year ko naman ina-announce na ‘it’s my year,’ pero this year talaga, na-feel ko talaga ‘yung growth saka ‘yung blessings sa ‘kin ni Lord, sunod-sunod na dumarating,” the actress shared during the mediacon for her upcoming film Meg & Ryan. “Sobrang thankful ko talaga, like, minsan, naiiyak ako sa gratitude… I just feel very excited.”

The romantic-comedy film marks Rhian’s first big-screen pairing with JC Santos, under the direction of Catherine Camarillo and produced by Pocket Media Productions Inc. and Pocket Media Films.
‘Meg & Ryan’ follows the story of two people who start off with a one-night stand and gradually develop deeper feelings for each other. The title is a nod to rom-com icon Meg Ryan, whom writer Gina Marissa Tagasa greatly admires.

“Si Manay Gina is a fan of Meg Ryan, and you know naman Meg Ryan is the queen of rom-com in the 80’s, di ba?” said Director Camarillo. “As we went through the creative process, the names ‘Meg’ and ‘Ryan’ really stuck with us. That’s how the title evolved.”
Rhian had high praise for her co-star JC, especially his generosity and professionalism on set.
“Napaka-generous niya as an actor. If there’s anything that he can do to help you in a scene, he will… It really made my job super easy,” she said.
As for the film’s more intimate moments, Rhian admitted that love scenes are never truly comfortable: “Honestly, love scenes are some of the most awkward scenes that you can possibly do… You have to trust each other and try your best to make each other feel comfortable. But you cannot feel totally comfortable in a love scene. It’s impossible.”
She was quick to clarify, though, that JC was “definitely a gentleman the whole time.”
For his part, JC likened love scenes to a dance: “Parang choreography lang talaga ‘yan. Hangga’t maaari, I just stick to the choreography and keep it technical.”
Despite being shot earlier, ‘Meg & Ryan’ is only hitting theaters this year — a decision that director Catherine said was about finding the right time amid a challenging local box office environment.
“Sobrang naging challenge ‘yung timing… I have to consider din the MTRCB, the music, at everything gusto kong makuha,” she explained.
The film also stars Cedrick Juan, Ces Quesada, Cris Villanueva, and Jef Gaitan, and introduces J-mee Katanyag, Steven Bansil, Poca Osinaga, and Alison Black.
‘Meg & Ryan’ opens in Philippine cinemas on August 6, 2025.
