Sabon Express launches first-ever Blue Box Refill vendo machine at BJMPMBAI anniversary event

Despite the heavy downpour, the rain didn’t stop attendees and guests from gathering at the BJMPMBAI Corporate Office in Quezon City on July 5, 2025, for a milestone celebration: the 24th Anniversary and General Membership Assembly of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (BJMPMBAI)—and the official launch of Sabon Express’ Blue Box, the Philippines’ first fully-automated refill vendo machine for household cleaning products.

The event, spearheaded by BJMPMBAI Head General Arturo Alit, was a dual celebration of institutional growth and sustainable innovation.

Sabon Express CEO Mellany Zambrano was on hand to unveil the Blue Box, a sleek, self-service refill station that dispenses dishwashing liquid, liquid detergent, and fabric conditioner. The machine encourages consumers to bring their own bottles and refill only what they need—offering a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic containers.

“It’s a big save of money to refill in our vendo machine and bring your own bottle to save our Mother Earth,” said Zambrano during her speech. “We’re proud to bring this innovation to the public, and especially grateful to BJMPMBAI for their partnership.”

As part of the newly announced collaboration, BJMPMBAI members can now avail of loans to acquire a Blue Box franchise, allowing them to start a small, sustainability-driven business in their communities. Zambrano thanked General Alit for supporting the initiative and opening doors for more Filipinos to become part of a growing green movement.

The Sabon Express Central Hub is located at the BJMPMBAI Corporate Center along Congressional Avenue Extension in Culiat, Quezon City.

The Blue Box project is more than a vending solution—it is part of Sabon Express’ larger commitment to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable consumer habits.

The startup has already earned support from key environmental organizations like Greenpeace Philippines and Ecowaste Coalition, and works closely with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to ensure the quality of its formulations.

Beyond affordability and convenience, the Blue Box encourages a shift in mindset—away from single-use plastics and toward conscious consumption. It’s a movement rooted in small actions with big impacts: bringing your own bottle, refilling only what you need, and skipping the packaging.

For those who once reached for sachets out of habit, Sabon Express offers a smarter, cleaner, and more responsible choice—now made even more accessible through BJMPMBAI’s member benefits.
