Vice Ganda took to social media to express full support for Awra Briguela, who recently came under fire from netizens over the use of the pronoun “her.”

On July 17, Awra posted on Instagram to celebrate her latest achievement—finally earning her high school diploma. In the caption, she gave credit to her mentor and ‘Lovely Muder,’ Vice Ganda, for helping her reach this milestone.
“Thank you so much My Lovely Muder, I wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for you,” wrote Awra. “I promise I’ll keep focusing on the love and the people who truly matter just like you taught me. The rest? They’re just background noise. I love you so much My lovely Muder.”
Vice responded in the comments with a heartfelt message: “Congratulations!!!! Never mind the noise. Focus on your win. Love u!”
The exchange came just days after social media personality Jack Argota stirred controversy by misgendering Awra in a post that went viral. Sharing an art card that read, “Awra Briguela on finally getting her high school degree: ‘Simula pa lang ito,’” Sir Jack commented, “Anong her? Goodluck bro!”
Despite the backlash, Awra chose to focus on the love and support she’s received—especially from Vice, who has long been vocal about uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Vice’s message reinforced the importance of celebrating milestones and tuning out unnecessary noise. “Focus on your win,” the comedian emphasized, reminding Awra—and others—to stay grounded in positivity and self-worth.
Awra’s graduation is a proud moment not only for her but also for those who have supported her journey.
