Veteran comedienne Aiai delas Alas had a message for her critics—especially Gen Z bashers—after her dramatic, Lady Gaga-inspired outfit at the GMA Gala 2025 drew mixed reactions online.

Aiai’s red carpet moment, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel on August 2, featured a grand reveal. She arrived cloaked in a massive cape emblazoned with titles of her iconic projects like ‘Ang Tanging Ina’, ‘Pasukob’, and ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’. The stunt, she said, was meant to commemorate her 35th anniversary in showbiz.
But not everyone was impressed. Some netizens accused her of copying pop icon Lady Gaga. Aiai, never one to hold back, clapped back with receipts—literally.
Posting throwback photos from the late ’80s on Facebook, Ai Ai schooled her Gen Z critics: “HELLO mga Gen Z’s… mga baby girls, baby boys, little baklets and little tibambolbees, inform lang kayo ng MAMA AI AI nyo,” she began.

“Itong mga pictures na ‘to, mga 1987-1989, nag-work ako as sing-along master sa Music Box sa QC kung saan kasama ko si Arnel Ignacio… gabi-gabi iba-iba outfit ko. Natural ko ‘yan.”
She recalled how, back then, she also worked at Studio Bar in Malate and was regularly dressed up in outlandish costumes.
“Sabi ng manager, ‘Halika, bibihisan kita, ‘yung kakaiba ka.’ Kaya everyday, ayan na nga… luka-lukahan ako and nasanay ako kahit nagka-club ako ganyan ako.”
Aiai even reminisced about walking into the iconic Subway Disco in Malate, where designers would cheer for her despite not knowing who she was.
“Minsan akala nila nag-a-adik ako. Parate akong couture in my own version. May sigarilyo pa ako sa buhok, minsan may kopita na may tubig—kung ano maisip ko, ginagawa ko at sinusuot ko,” she said.

Firmly rejecting accusations of attention-seeking or imitation, Aiai declared: “WALA akong ginagaya at hindi ako nagpapansin—natural ko na ‘yan… nag-level up lang ako kasi may pera na akong pambili ng kung ano-ano.”
She even joked, “Minsan nga pag nakikita ko si Lady Gaga, kilala kaya niya ako? Ginagaya kaya niya ako??? Hahaha #feelingera.”
The comedy icon ended her post with flair: “#IWasBornThisWay #GMAGala2026SeeYouPagBuhayPaKo.”
In the comments, fans expressed admiration for Aiai’s authenticity and originality.
One user wrote, “Wala pa si Lady Gaga, may Ai Ai na po,” to which she gleefully responded, “Tama!!!! Korek check shuta!!!”

Another fan praised her consistency: “Miss Ai Si Deals, saludo ako sa’yo! Hindi mo kailangang magpanggap para mahalin ng tao—kasi ang pagiging totoo mo, ‘yun ang dahilan kung bakit mas marami ang humahanga sa’yo.”
Aiai replied with heartfelt humor: “Awwwwww… noon nga kahit ano sinasabi ko. Malamang kung ngayun ‘yun, tapos na career ko hehe.”
And for the record? Her bold fashion sense goes way back—even to her days as a saleslady at Cinderella SM North.
“Oo haha naka-heels ako and malaking earrings. Bawal dun kaya parate ako may memo haha,” she recalled.
