Kapuso actor Alden Richards bagged another acting recognition after winning Best Single Performance by an Actor at the 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television held last August 24 at the VS Hotel in Quezon City.

Richards won for his moving portrayal of a character struggling with mental health challenges in an episode of ‘Magpakailanman’.
In his acceptance speech, Alden turned emotional as he dedicated his award to those silently battling mental health struggles.
“I dedicate this award sa mga may mental health problems,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding the issue: “Ang mental health po ay hindi biro. Hindi siya iniisip lang. Hindi siya gawa-gawa lang ng mga nakaka-experience nito,” he declared.
The actor then shared his personal connection to the issue, revealing, “Me personally was a victim of mental health issues. And growing up, my mom had bipolar depression. So I knew and I know exactly what it feels like and how it is to live in a household na mayroong ganoong klaseng suliranin.”
Richards admitted that running has been his way of coping whenever anxiety strikes. He also expressed hope that through his work, he could inspire others not to lose hope: “Napakahirap pong kalaban ng isip. Napakahirap pong kalaban ng sarili. And I’ve been there. And I know. So to everyone who has these kinds of problems right now, I hear you, we hear you, and we are here to support and help you.”

Aside from his award, Alden was also asked by the press if he was still open to working with Kathryn Bernardo, his leading lady in the record-breaking 2019 film ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’.
“Pag may opportunity po. We’ll see. Tingnan natin,” Alden replied, leaving the door open for a possible reunion that fans of the blockbuster hit have long been hoping for.
