First-time film producer Architect Ana Capuno of Grid Film Production is making her debut in the Philippine movie industry with the upcoming family drama ‘Outside De Familia’.
While excited about the journey, she candidly admits to feeling nervous about her new venture—especially in a time when streaming platforms dominate viewers’ attention.
“I do feel nervous entering the film production industry,” Capuno shared. “I’m aware that streaming platforms have changed the way people consume content. But I still hope new producers like me will be given a chance to create films that resonate with audiences.”
Capuno, who hails from Legazpi City, emphasized that this is more than just a business for her.
“Producing films is a passion project for me,” she added. “I plan to continue making films.”
Her maiden project ‘Outside De Familia’ is written and directed by seasoned filmmaker Joven Tan and features a powerhouse cast led by Ruby Ruiz, Sheila Francisco, and Gelli de Belen, with supporting performances from Matet de Leon, Luis Alandy, Peewee O’Hara, and Rey ‘PJ’ Abellana. The film also marks the introduction of promising young actor Dwayne Garcia.
Set for nationwide theatrical release on August 27, 2025, ‘Outside De Familia’ explores the enduring bond of friendship among women who have remained close since their college days. As they face individual challenges—especially when it comes to parenting—the story unfolds in heartfelt and often tear-jerking moments that audiences are expected to deeply relate to.
The film underscores the idea that family isn’t just about blood, but about connection, understanding, and unconditional love.
Early viewers have praised the film’s trailer for its touching portrayal of Filipino values and emotional storytelling. With strong performances from seasoned stage actresses like Ruiz and Francisco, and a simple yet compelling narrative, Outside De Familia promises to be a refreshing, heartfelt addition to this year’s local cinema lineup.
