The BGC Arts Center transformed into a runway-meets-tech showcase on August 7 as HUAWEI, in collaboration with Vogue Philippines, unveiled the highly anticipated Pura 80 Series.

The star-studded event brought together fashion-forward celebrities, top photographers, and tastemakers, reinforcing the brand’s vision of pairing cutting-edge technology with luxury design.
The night doubled as the HUAWEI XMAGE Photography Exhibition, featuring works from top Filipino creatives Borgy Angeles and Gab Villareal. Their pieces reimagined Manila and Poblacion through the lens of the Pura 80 Series, producing gallery-worthy images that highlighted the phone’s professional-grade imaging capabilities.
Among the special guests was award-winning actor Jericho Rosales, who praised the series as a perfect fit for both glamorous events and his off-duty adventures.

“It’s more than just a phone — it’s a companion that lets me capture my world, day or night, in the best way possible,” said Rosales, noting how the Pura 80 Series blends “fashion-next” design with AI-powered performance.
Suki Salvador, president of Mega Global Licensing, also shared insights on the growing role of mobile photography in modern storytelling.
“Regardless of the medium, day or night, it’s the (wandering) eye that is truly capable of discovering stories worth telling,” Salvador said. “With the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series, the gap that once divided professionals from casual photographers begins to coalesce, letting anyone and everyone tell their narratives the way they always envisioned.”

At the center of the launch were the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra and Pura 80 Pro. The Ultra debuts the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, seamlessly transitioning between 3.7x mid-telephoto and 9.4x ultra-telephoto focal lengths. Backed by a 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera and real-time TCH-HDR technology, it delivers 16EV dynamic range and cinematic-quality video, whether under bright daylight or in low-light nightscapes.

The Pura 80 Pro focuses on macro excellence with its Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera, capable of super close focus up to 5cm. With a massive F2.1 aperture, it captures intricate textures and vivid details even in challenging lighting. Both models feature second-generation Kunlun Glass, IP69/IP68 water and dust resistance, AI-powered features, and ultra-fast wired and wireless charging.
The Pura 80 Ultra is priced at PHP 89,999, while the Pura 80 Pro starts at PHP 59,999. Both are now available for pre-order via Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, the HUAWEI Online Store, and HUAWEI Experience Stores nationwide, complete with premium care services and exclusive freebies. The standard Pura 80 and the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5” will also launch in the country soon.
By the end of the night, the message was clear: the Pura 80 Series is more than just a smartphone — it’s a statement piece. (with reports from Loyd Pino)
