From being hailed as one of the country’s top celebrity taxpayers, actress-host Anne Curtis is now taking her voice to the streets as she confirmed her participation in the September 21 nationwide protest against corruption.

On Saturday, September 20, Anne shared on Instagram the Plaque of Appreciation she received from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) earlier this year for being among the Top Taxpaying Media Personalities, along with her message on why she is joining the rally.
“Finally received this award, since I wasn’t able to attend the ceremony earlier this year due to my crazy sched,” she wrote. “Thank you po for recognizing my sincere effort to make sure I pay my taxes correctly and on time.”
The “It’s Showtime” host underscored the importance of transparency in government spending, especially for hardworking Filipinos who continue to bear the brunt of long commutes, late-night work, and even flooding.
“Bilang mga taxpayers, it allows us to ask an important question: Saan ba talaga napupunta ‘yung taxes natin lahat?
We all work hard. Some spend late nights away from their families, endure long commutes, and sadly, many still suffer the consequences of flooding and other hardships.
I DO BELIEVE in paying taxes — when they’re used for the growth of our nation, the betterment of our communities, and most importantly, in support of our fellow Filipinos who need the extra hand. Especially for the youth and children who don’t have access to proper nutrition and education.”
Anne then called on her fellow citizens to use their voices to demand change: “It’s time we use our voices to END CORRUPTION in our country para sa mga anak natin at para sa future generation of Filipinos. See you tomorrow! ✊ Para sa ’yo, Mahal naming Pilipinas ♀️”
Anne will be joining her ‘It’s Showtime’ co-hosts Vice Ganda and Ogie Alcasid, as well as thousands of Filipinos expected to protest across the country following the exposé on anomalous flood control projects allegedly involving government officials and contractors.
