Kapuso Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado did not mince words as she expressed her anger over the country’s worsening corruption problem, particularly the alleged anomalies in flood control projects that have triggered massive protests nationwide on September 21.

In a series of Instagram posts, Mercado shared her frustration as both a responsible taxpayer and a concerned citizen.
“We were awarded as one of the top taxpayers and recognized as a tax advocate. For decades, we’ve worked hard in this industry. Hindi lang para sa amin, but to build a life and provide for our family. We pay our dues because we believe in doing our part,” she wrote.
“But watching billions in ‘flood control’ vanish while our communities sink deeper in floods is unacceptable. Flood control funds are meant to protect people, families, and futures — hindi para mapunta sa bulsa ng mga magnanakaw. We give because we care about this country, but corruption robs us of the safety and dignity every Filipino deserves,” Mercado continued.
She further stressed the urgency of accountability: “We have families to feed and lives to support. We cannot allow our hard-earned taxes to be wasted. It’s time to hold those accountable. Tama na. Sobra na.”
In another IG Story, the actress vented her fury even more bluntly: “The biggest scam in life: Paying taxes on the money you make. Paying taxes on the money you spend. And paying taxes on things you own that you already paid taxes on with already taxed money. Ang gagaling ng mga Lintek! Hirap na hirap na ang mga Pilipino!”
Her strong remarks came as thousands of Filipinos marched at Luneta Park and the EDSA Shrine for the #TrillionPesoMarch, calling for justice and transparency in the wake of alleged multi-trillion peso anomalies in government flood control projects.
