Kapamilya actress-host Kim Chiu has responded to online criticism after she mispronounced the name of OPM band IV of Spades during their guesting on ‘It’s Showtime’ last Sept. 10.

Instead of reading “IV” as the Roman numeral for four, Kim mistakenly introduced the group as “I.V.”, prompting some netizens to poke fun at the error. A viral post from an X (formerly Twitter) account amplified the slip, which drew Kim’s attention.
On Sept. 13, Kim directly addressed the issue on her own X account, saying it was an honest mistake and stressing that bigger problems in the country deserve more focus.
“Let me just clear this out. Honest mistake, ‘di ko talaga sila kilala. Kung naitama ko ‘yung pangalan nila. May magbabago ba? Mababalik ba sa’tin ‘yung ninakaw na TAX natin? I think there is much more problem in PH now than this,” she wrote.
Kim added that the culture of pulling people down instead of supporting one another is part of the reason why the Philippines struggles to progress.
“Ang hirap sa iba, instead of lifting each other up, we pull one another down. Crab mentality. Kaya walang pinagbago ang Pilipinas. Sana, mas piliin na lang natin magtulungan para sa ikauunlad ng lahat,” she said.
She concluded her post with a reminder: “Be considerate. Be kind.”
Chiu, who recently starred in the hit series ‘Linlang’, is set to make her primetime comeback in ‘The Alibi’ opposite Paulo Avelino.
Meanwhile, IV of Spades — composed of Blaster Silonga, Zild Benitez, Badjao de Castro, and Unique Salonga (before his solo departure) — recently made their much-anticipated return to the OPM scene with their comeback single ‘Aura’ last July, following a five-year hiatus.
