Ogie Diaz stands by his support for Leni Robredo: ‘I don’t regret it’

Talent manager and showbiz insider Ogie Diaz revisited his support for former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo during the 2022 presidential elections.

On his Facebook page, Diaz reshared a post detailing where Robredo’s campaign funds came from. Alongside it, he recalled how he and his friend Mama Loi Villarama volunteered their services during the campaign rallies of the Leni-Kiko tandem.

“Oy, bigla ko tuloy naalala. Sumampa kami ni Mama Loi Villarama sa 25 stages nang libre as in walang talent fee,” Diaz said.

He added that he even printed and distributed campaign shirts at his own expense: “Nagpagawa ako ng t-shirts na 1k pieces para ipamigay.”

Diaz stressed that his support came from his belief that Robredo’s victory would have been a big win for the Filipino people.

“Kasi alam ko, malaking ginhawa sa taumbayan at sa bayan kung siya ang magwawagi. At hindi ko ito pinagsisihan,” he said.

His post resurfaced amid renewed online circulation of a photo of Robredo taken during the 2022 CNN Philippines presidential debate. At the time, she vowed that, if elected, the first agencies she would investigate to tackle corruption were the Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Immigration, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The statement has gained attention once again as the DPWH faces scrutiny over alleged anomalies in its flood control projects.
