The September 21 anti-corruption rally in Manila drew thousands of Filipinos to Luneta and the EDSA People Power Monument, with many celebrities spotted in the crowd.

However, some netizens called out the absence of top stars Kathryn Bernardo, Piolo Pascual, and Alden Richards, questioning why they were not present or vocal about the issue.
Comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz stepped in to defend the actors, reminding the public that attendance at political rallies is not mandatory and that some artists are bound by professional restrictions.
“Nasaan daw si Kathryn Bernardo sa rally? Pati sina Piolo Pascual at Alden Richards? Ba’t wala daw sa rally. Una, hindi naman sapilitan ang pagpunta doon, kung gusto lang. Pangalawa, may mga artistang bawal sa kanila ang lumahok sa anumang rally at dapat non-partisan sila. Or apolitical sila. Minsan naka-stipulate ‘yan sa mga endorsement contracts nila. Kasi madedemanda sila o magpe-penalty sila pag nag-join sila. Kahit gustuhin man nilang makiisa,” Diaz explained.
He further appealed to the public not to be quick to judge: “’Wag na kayo magalit. Alam nating lahat na galit din ang mga ‘yan sa corrupt!”
Supporters of Diaz’s statement agreed that showing concern for the country is not limited to physical presence at rallies, noting that silence on social media is also a personal choice.
The Trillion Peso March coincided with the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law, with groups from Luneta marching toward Mendiola, while those from the EDSA Shrine headed to the People Power Monument. The protest highlighted alleged corruption in flood control projects and demanded accountability from public officials.
