Talent manager and showbiz personality Ogie Diaz lashed out at Sen. Rodante Marcoleta over the lawmaker’s alleged protection of government contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya.

On Wednesday, September 17, Diaz reposted on his Facebook page a video clip that questioned Marcoleta’s supposed cover-up of the Discayas’ involvement in anomalous flood control projects.
In his caption, Diaz recalled Marcoleta’s role in the ABS-CBN shutdown back in 2020 and compared it to the senator’s stance on the Discayas.
“Senador Marcoleta, dapat kung gaano ka kagalit sa ABS-CBN noon kahit wala namang ninakaw na pera sa kaban ng bayan, dapat, mas galit na galit ka sa mga Discaya,” Diaz wrote.
He added: “So ang tanong lang na madalas kong mabasa sa mga comment section: nagkabigayan ba?”
Diaz had earlier criticized Marcoleta for quickly pushing to place the Discayas under the Witness Protection Program.
The couple’s companies were among the government’s top 15 contractors that profited from flood control projects, according to data released by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
It will be recalled that in May 2020, ABS-CBN was forced to shut down operations after its 25-year legislative franchise expired and 70 lawmakers voted against its renewal, including Marcoleta.
The network was also heavily criticized by former president Rodrigo Duterte, who accused ABS-CBN of not airing his 2016 campaign ads. ABS-CBN later apologized, explaining that they were limited in the number of local ads they could accommodate.
