Veteran broadcaster and columnist Ramon Tulfo has spoken up in defense of actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista amid criticism over her net worth and lavish lifestyle.
“Leave her alone! Heart Evangelista is a billionaire in her own right as she comes from the wealthy Ongpauco clan that owns the Barrio Fiesta chain of restaurants,” Tulfo wrote in a recent post.
He stressed that Heart was already financially independent even before marrying Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero. “Before she got married to Chiz Escudero, Heart was earning oodles and oodles of money as a movie actress and influencer,” he said.
“The money she spends is her own, not Chiz’s. I should know. I’m a friend of her uncle Rod Ongpauco,” Tulfo added, referring to the restaurateur and member of the Evangelista-Ongpauco family.
Evangelista has maintained a two-decade career in showbiz while building her profile as a global fashion figure. Apart from film and television, she has secured more than 50 endorsements, brand collaborations, and luxury partnerships. She also co-owns the skincare line Luxelle Centella, which has seen strong sales both online and in physical stores.
