Controversial contractor Sarah Discaya disclosed that she started bidding for flood control projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in 2016, during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“2016 onwards,” Discaya told Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, a Duterte ally, during the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control projects.
Discaya, president of the Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor and Development Corp., further confirmed her earlier pronouncements on social media that her companies flourished after joining biddings for DPWH flood control projects, DPWH biddings for flood control projects, which enabled her to acquire several luxury vehicles.
She also said that Alpha and Omega, bid for 491 projects in 2022 and won 71. She also admitted that her family owns nine companies, including one owned by her eldest son and another run by her cousin.
Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor and Development Corp. is one of the 15 contractors named by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., which was said to have cornered 20 percent of the total P545 billion budget of flood control projects in the country.
