Veteran actress Angel Aquino made a candid revelation in a recent interview on ‘The Daily Dish’ of Bilyonaryo Channel, saying that she likes girls — a statement that quickly sparked conversation online.

When asked by host Mai Rodriguez if there was something people didn’t know about her, Angel initially replied, “Oh, I don’t know, my life’s an open book.” Then, with a playful smile, she added, “I like girls! There.”
Mai responded, “Maybe some people don’t know that about you,” to which Angel quipped, “Well, a lot of people are in denial—sila talaga ‘yung in denial.”
The ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ star, known for her grace and boldness both on and off screen, later clarified what she meant to avoid misinterpretation.
“Wait, can I just correct that because I said I like girls. You know that might sound––especially with social media––it might sound weird. I’m saying I fall in love also with girls and women. They might think it can sound weird kasi if you just take it as is.”
Clips from the interview quickly circulated on X (formerly Twitter), with many fans expressing love and support for the actress’s honesty and openness.
“Finally she feels free to shout it to the world,” one fan wrote.
“Super crush ko siya dati! May rumors na before, pero hearing her confirm it on TV?! My younger self would’ve thrown a full-on celebration,” another added.
“I’m just glad it’s easier to talk about stuff like this now, especially on television,” another user commented.

Angel, who has two daughters including actress and film producer Iana Bernardez, was previously married to Ian Bernardez in 1995 before their annulment in 2004. She later had a four-year relationship with actor and host Lui Villaruz, which ended in 2011.
Aside from her revelation, Angel also shared her plans if she were given a billion pesos to spend.
“I’d be so happy. I will build my pet hotel and make sure that there’s space for my beautiful pets to run around. I will help people with education because I think that education is very important.”
She added that her desire to give back stems from personal experience.
“I was sent through school by Tulong-Dunong, which is an Ateneo scholarship program, and I want to help that—I want to be able to give back.”
Recently, the award-winning actress also spoke out against the dangers of AI-generated explicit content after she became a victim of a deepfake porn video. She testified before the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality led by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, calling for stronger protection against digital sexual abuse.
