The veteran crime journalist and beloved host is set to make his Kapamilya comeback through a brand-new edition of the iconic investigative program ‘SOCO: Scene of the Crime Operatives.’
This time, Abelgas will be joined by some of ABS-CBN News’ toughest reporters — Jeff Caparas, Zyan Ambrocio, Lyza Aquino, and Jessie Cruzat — as they delve into major crime stories, unsolved mysteries, and real-life investigations that continue to grip the nation.
Known for his signature deep voice and compelling storytelling, Sir Gus became the face of ‘SOCO’ when it first aired on ABS-CBN Channel 2 on November 23, 2005, running successfully until October 17, 2020. The show became one of the most-watched true-crime programs in the country, earning a loyal following for its gripping reenactments and in-depth reporting that both informed and warned the public about the realities of crime and justice.
After leaving ABS-CBN in 2020, Abelgas briefly hosted ‘Forensics’ on One PH under TV5 and Cignal TV in 2023. But now, the veteran journalist is once again donning his Kapamilya badge — ready to bring back the same intensity, authority, and compassion that made ‘SOCO’ a staple in Philippine television.
