A new and exciting singing competition is coming to Philippine television as GMA Network officially announced its partnership with South Korea’s Kanverse to launch the local version of the hit SBS show ‘The Veiled Musician.’

The announcement was made on Friday, October 24, marking another major collaboration between the Philippines and South Korea. The show will air as a special segment on GMA Network’s Sunday variety program ‘All-Out Sundays.’
Unlike typical singing contests, ‘The Veiled Musician’ takes a unique approach — judges cannot see the faces of contestants and will evaluate them solely on their voices and musical expression.
“Papakinggan lang natin ‘yung boses, hindi [kita] ‘yung mukha,” explained Kanverse CEO Seo Min Kyu, who attended the contract signing alongside GMA Network Officer-in-Charge for Entertainment Group and Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, and the show’s producer and director Lee Honghee.
“Gusto ko lang talaga marinig ‘yung boses lang po mismo, kung ano po ‘yung mga talent na meron sa kanila,” Seo added, emphasizing the show’s mission to remove bias and celebrate pure talent.
Leading the buzz is the announcement that Tiffany Young, member of the iconic K-pop group Girls’ Generation, will serve as a guest judge for the Philippine edition.
The singer expressed her admiration for Filipino vocalists and revealed her excitement to join the project: “It’s definitely the vocal style — how much you can express, what songs you choose, and how personal and authentic you can make the song without showing any part of you,” Tiffany said in an interview with GMA News’ Aubrey Carampel on ’24 Oras’.
She also praised Filipino talent, citing Broadway legend Lea Salonga as one of her biggest inspirations:
“World famous and one of my favorite vocalists of all time is Miss Lea Salonga. I’m really, really excited. I’m so honored to be here — I hope this becomes the Asian Games for vocalists.”
According to producer Lee Honghee, the Philippine edition will select three winners who will represent the country in the grand finals of “Veiled Musician” in South Korea, competing with contestants from across Asia.
“Meron pang iba pero nung dumadalaw kami sa lahat ng iba’t-ibang bansa, sobrang na-surprise kami kasi ang daming magagaling na vocalist pala,” Lee shared, noting that the team has already scouted in Indonesia, Mongolia, and Laos before arriving in the Philippines.
The full lineup of judges and the official premiere date of ‘Veiled Musician Philippines’ will be announced soon.
