Vice Ganda delivered a powerful message to Filipinos during the October 11 episode of It’s Showtime, encouraging everyone to reject settling for less in all aspects of life.

During the show’s Laro Laro Pick segment, the superstar comedian addressed the studio players—all working students—and extended her words to viewers nationwide. Her message was clear: Filipinos deserve more than just getting by, whether in relationships, government services, or personal pursuits.

“Yung mga konting lambing sa sarili, hindi ‘yun masama–it’s not greed. Especially, if you worked hard to get it,” Vice emphasized, challenging the cultural tendency to feel guilty about wanting more. She stressed that aspiring for abundance isn’t selfish when earned through honest effort.

The host elaborated on why settling for “enough” shouldn’t be the ultimate goal. You can not share what you do not have,” she explained, highlighting how personal prosperity enables generosity toward others.

Vice then broadened her advocacy beyond material success, addressing systemic issues affecting everyday Filipinos. You don’t deserve the bare minimum. No one deserves the bare minimum, because all of us, deserve nothing but the best,” she declared passionately.

The comedian’s words gained even more weight when she backed them with action. During the jackpot segment, when hardworking student MM failed to answer the final question correctly, Vice personally pledged ₱20,000, moved by the player’s inspiring story of balancing studies and work. She didn’t stop there—Vice extended ₱5,000 to each working student who didn’t advance to the jackpot round.

I salute you,” she said, acknowledging the courage these young people show. Vice reflected on her own student days, when she wanted to work primarily for experience, making her admire even more those who work out of necessity while pursuing education.

Vice Ganda’s message arrives at a crucial time when many Filipinos face economic pressures and accept substandard treatment as normal. By encouraging people to demand better—from their relationships, their government, and themselves—the beloved entertainer used her platform to inspire a mindset shift. Her spontaneous generosity toward struggling students demonstrated that her advocacy isn’t merely rhetoric but a principle she actively lives by, reminding everyone that aspiring for excellence and refusing to settle is every Filipino’s right.
