Phenomenal Box-office Star Vice Ganda was left emotional after a netizen pledged to entrust him with a donation intended for the victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu City.

On X (formerly Twitter), a user identified as @SZudee expressed hesitancy about donating through government agencies or private organizations, fearing the aid might not reach those who truly need it.
“Hi, Vice! Getting old in the Philippines is full of uncertainties. Tama ang sabi mo, tayo tayo na lang ang magtutulungan. I am personally willing to help. But I wanted to give it through you. Ikaw lang at ang @angatbuhay_ph ang pinagkakatiwalaan ko sa bansang ito,” the netizen wrote.
Vice immediately reposted the message and responded with gratitude.
“Nakakaiyak. I will humbly accept your help for the Madlang People. Malaking bagay yan. Di po namin tatanggihan. I will DM you for details. Makakaasa kang mapupunta sa malinis na kamay ang tulong mo. Maraming salamat!”
The comedian-host’s reply quickly gained traction online, with many netizens echoing their mistrust of traditional donation channels and calling for more transparent efforts led by individuals and trusted organizations.
Some even urged Vice Ganda and ‘It’s Showtime’ to establish a formal foundation or donation account.
“Meme, possible kaya magkaroon ang Showtime ng foundation or account to accept such donation? Sa inyo na lang kami magbibigay every month,” one user suggested.
Another added, “Grabeee, araw-araw nalang nagpapaiyak ang Showtime. Andaming natutulungan.”
Others, however, called on the government not to rely solely on citizens’ goodwill.
“Sana wag iaasa ng mga pulitiko sa mga mamamayan ang pagdamay sa nangangailangan. Baka lalo sila magnakaw kasi may tumulong naman sa mga kababayan natin,” one comment read.
The strong public response highlighted growing frustration over corruption and mismanagement in relief operations, with many Filipinos preferring to channel aid through personalities and groups they trust.
As of writing, Vice Ganda has yet to announce if he will formally organize a donation drive for Cebu, but his commitment to directly assist donors who reach out has already sparked renewed hope among supporters.
