Fans of Kapuso star Heart Evangelista are now calling out Vice Ganda after the Unkabogable Star mentioned her name in a recent episode of ‘It’s Showtime’, where Vice recounted a time she helped rebuild a school in Heart’s province.

During the October 24 episode of the noontime show, Vice was speaking to a contestant of the ‘Laro, Laro, Pick’ segment who talked about wanting to help her children finish school.
This prompted Vice to share a personal story: “May pinuntahan akong lugar do’n sa probinsiya nina Heart Evangelista, na isang paaralan na walang reading materials. Pinagawa ko ‘yong eskwelahan,” Vice said.
She added, “Nagpadala ako ng tulong do’n kasi walang reading materials. Bulok ‘yong paaralan do’n sa lugar nina Heart Evangelista. I cried so much when I saw that school.”
While the comedian’s intentions seemed pure, Heart’s fans took offense at the mention of the actress’ name and the description of the school as “bulok.”
Many pointed out that Vice might have been “barking up the wrong tree” by associating Heart with the issue, saying that the Department of Education or Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should be responsible for school facilities—not Heart.
Some Bicolanos, particularly those from Sorsogon (Heart’s home province), also took to social media to express disappointment. They said Vice’s statement painted an inaccurate picture of their local schools, sharing photos as “receipts” to prove that classrooms in the area were not in poor condition and had proper learning materials.
“Idolo namin si Vice pero sana sa totoo lang ang mga kwento. Bawal ang fake news,” one netizen commented.
Another wrote, “Hindi naman si Heart ang DPWH o DepEd, bakit siya binanggit? Wala siyang kinalaman diyan.”
The controversy came just days after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon admitted in a Senate hearing that only 22 out of 1,700 classroom projects have been completed this year, highlighting the slow pace of government-led educational infrastructure projects.
However, fans and observers were quick to defend both celebrities, noting that Vice’s story may have been a spur-of-the-moment remark during a live broadcast.
“Live show kasi ang It’s Showtime, so minsan may mga biglaang nasasabi,” one fan reasoned.
As of writing, Heart Evangelista has remained silent on the matter — consistent with her non-confrontational nature — while many believe there’s no personal rift between her and Vice, who also works closely with Heart’s friend and ‘It’s Showtime’ co-host Anne Curtis.
For now, both fanbases are hoping the issue ends on a positive note — with everyone agreeing that what truly matters is helping improve the state of public schools in the country, without dragging uninvolved personalities into the mix.
