Viva Films is set to celebrate its 44th anniversary this November with the launch of a brand-new vertical streaming platform called Movie Box, designed to cater to the fast-paced, mobile-first viewing habits of today’s audience.

The new platform, which officially launches on November 10, will feature serialized microdramas with episodes lasting only one to three minutes—perfect for viewers on the go. Movie Box will serve as the newest addition to Viva’s growing digital ecosystem, joining Vivamax and Viva One, both of which have enjoyed strong followings among Filipino audiences worldwide.
According to Studio Viva President and COO Valerie del Rosario, Movie Box will offer fresh, short-form storytelling that reflects modern lifestyles.
“Mas pasok siya sa kung paano gumalaw ang mga tao ngayon,” Val explained. “You can watch while you’re commuting, waiting for the elevator, or just taking a quick break.”

The platform will debut with eight original titles, each with bite-sized episodes packed with emotion, intrigue, and excitement.
Among the launch offerings are:
- “Akin Ka Lang” starring Nathalie Hart, Rhen Escaño, Albie Casiño, Shirley Fuentes, and Ivan Padilla (dir. Christian Lat)
- “Elisa: Batang Kabit” starring Abby Bautista, James Blanco, Sheree Bautista, and Yayo Aguila (dir. Sigrid Polon)
- “Maid for Revenge” starring Rose Van Ginkel, Cara Gonzales, Mon Confiado, and Billy Villeta (dir. Bobby Bonifacio Jr.)

Viva President and COO Vincent del Rosario shared that their father, Boss Vic del Rosario, personally pushed for the creation of Movie Box as part of his commitment to continuously innovate in the entertainment landscape.

“Si Boss Vic is quite adventurous sa mga bagong negosyo,” Vincent said. “When we entered streaming, we had zero knowledge, but we learned along the way. This new venture is another leap of faith.”
He revealed that Viva invests close to ₱1 billion annually in content production across its various platforms — from full-length films and series to television projects like ‘Totoy Bato’ and ‘Para Sa Isa’t Isa’.
“Every week, we commit to one original story for Movie Box. Combine that with 70 feature films on Vivamax and over a dozen series on Viva One — that’s more than 120 projects a year,” Vincent added.
Valerie del Rosario noted that Movie Box will not compete with Viva’s cinema releases or longer streaming content but instead complement them by reaching a new segment of digital consumers.
“Iba-ibang market, iba-ibang platform. Yung iba, gusto nila sa TV o sinehan. Pero para sa mga laging on-the-go, ito ‘yung bagay — mabilis, engaging, at madaling panoorin,” she said.
Each title under Viva Movie Box will be available through subscription for only ₱59 per week, under the tagline ‘Mahirap Bumitaw.’
As Viva marks its 44th anniversary, the launch of Movie Box represents not just another business milestone but also the company’s continued mission to nurture Filipino creativity and provide opportunities for both new and veteran artists.
“Everyday, every month, meron kaming ginagawa to help fuel the industry in our small little way,” Vincent said.
