Singer-songwriter Daryl Ong addressed a series of online comments questioning his political stance, emphasizing that Filipinos should work together rather than divide themselves amid ongoing national issues.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, November 19, Ong criticized what he described as the tendency of some corrupt individuals to rely on public infighting and short memory.
“‘Yong sisihan, ‘yong bangayan, ‘yong bilis natin makalimot sa mga nasalanta at sa totoong issue, ‘yan ang alas na pinanghahawakan ng mga kurakot na obvious naman nang guilty,” he wrote. He added that wrongdoers “wait for people to get tired and stop demanding accountability,” while the public becomes “nagkakawatak-watak.”
In a separate post, Ong responded to a netizen who said they would not join him in calling out corruption because he supported the UniTeam during the 2022 elections.
The netizen wrote: “Hindi kami makikiisa sa inyo Daryl. You voted for them then deal with it… mas pinili niyo ang mga corrupt kesa sa may malinis na kalooban tulad ni Ma’am Leni.”
Ong questioned this mindset, saying that national issues affect everyone regardless of political preference.
“Na para bang wala tayo sa isang bangka, at kung lulubog ang bangka ay hindi kayo kasama sa paglubog? Yan ba ang tamang mindset?” he replied.
He added that even if voters made mistakes in the past, refusing to unite against corruption would only worsen the situation.
“Ngayon na sinusubukan niyong solusyonan ang pagkakamali, dito lang kami manunuod sa inyo—hindi kami makikiisa… Yan ba ang tamang kaisipan?” he said.
Ong was among the public figures who endorsed the UniTeam slate of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte during the 2022 presidential elections.
