Kapamilya host-comedienne Melai Cantiveros had members of the entertainment press in stitches during the media conference of her Bisaya talk show ‘Kuan On One’ Season 4, held on November 19 at ABS-CBN.
Known for her quick wit and comedic timing, Cantiveros delivered another round of viral-ready remarks when asked a hypothetical question: What would she do if she were President of the Philippines and faced corrupt government officials?
“Kung ako ang presidente ng Pilipinas… korap, imbestigahan agad ngayong araw. Wala nang mga RA-RA na ganyan. Imbestigahan ngayon din. Kapag napatunayan ng Department of Justice na may kasalanan, kulong!” she said.
She added she would push for faster resolution of cases.
“Next! Ikaw, meron ka ring problema? Okay, DOJ, may problema — aprubado, kulong! Kasi bakit pa natin patagalin? Pwede naman nating bilisan!”
Cantiveros said immediate consequences would discourage misconduct in government.
“Para wala nang gumawa ng kabulukan at kabulastugan. Matakot na talaga tayo sa batas. Kasi wala nang natatakot ngayon sa batas.”
She also emphasized that if she were president, one of her first actions would be to prohibit political dynasties.
“Pirmahan ko agad ‘yung bawal ang magkakamag-anak sa gobyerno. Bawal na agad ‘yan para bigyan yung iba ng chance kung magaling ba sila sa pamumuno. Tapos pirmahan agad, pagkapirma tapos!” she said.
Cantiveros expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN management and to the viewers—whom she fondly calls “Kuanizens”—as ‘Kuan On One’ officially marks its fourth season on Kapamilya Channel and iWant.
“Lahat ng ito ay sa ‘kuanizens’ na nanonood… lalo na ‘yung mga hindi Bisaya pero nanonood pa rin at umaasa sa caption at subtitle. Thank you so much talaga. Kayo ang dahilan kung bakit nandito na tayo sa season 4,” she said.
She teased the new season’s lineup, which will highlight the roots and personal stories of Bisaya celebrities, including Matteo Guidicelli, AZ Martinez, and Beauty Gonzalez.
“Sobra akong excited dahil alam ko na maraming matutuwa at mai-inspire sa new set of Bisaya celebrity na iinterview-hin natin. Kuwentong Bisaya talaga,” she added. (with reports from Loyd Pino)
