Taiwanese collective Night Keepers 守夜人 collab with Singaporean band GOOSE 我鳥 in new single, ‘Happiness Hurts’. The song will also be debuted live during Night Keepers’ first-ever headline show in Singapore at Wire Entertainment on 23 November where GOOSE will be joining as a performing guest.

A post-rock reinterpretation of Night Keepers’ previous Mandarin single, ‘Happiness Hurts’ explores the contrasts and struggles in life through layered guitar and ambient textures. It reflects the idea that while we often assume happiness should heal sadness, sometimes happiness itself hurts. The single offers listeners a sense of comfort and strength in the truth that joy and sorrow can exist side by side.
Night Keepers and GOOSE were first introduced to each other at the CLANG 克浪 Music Festival in Singapore. At the time, the members of GOOSE were in the audience watching Night Keepers’ set and were deeply moved by the atmosphere they created. After the show, they reached out to Night Keepers to share how they felt and to express their excitement about the possibility of working together in the future. One of the members, WiFi had long admired GOOSE’s music as well, but the right moment to collaborate had not come until 歌曲再創計畫 which finally brought them together.
GOOSE shared, “We feel truly honored and touched. Night Keepers’ music carries a calming power, and meeting like-minded musicians to collaborate—especially discovering that we share similar tastes—makes this connection feel particularly special to us.”
Founded in 2015, Night Keepers 守夜人 is a Taiwanese psychedelic electronic band with roots in folk music, writing songs in both Chinese and English. The line-up includes band leader/vocal/keyboardist WiFi, drummer Kit, the other lead vocal Chill Lin, and electric guitarist Chia-Ying.
Through their music, Night Keepers uses narrative but neurotic piano notes to establish the emotional layer. On top of this, they use psychedelic electric guitars to build the sound wall, and collocate this with casual rhythm and childish synthesizer tones.
Most recently, Night Keepers played in Kuala Lumpur at the Emerge Festival Malaysia in September, and will be playing at Emerge Festival Tokyo in November.
