Miss Grand International (MGI) founder and Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil has filed a criminal complaint against newly crowned Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch Fernández of Mexico, escalating the controversy that erupted during a pre-pageant activity in Thailand last month.

According to an official statement released on December 2 through the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page and the Miss Grand International Public Company Ltd., the complaint—filed on November 12 in Thailand—is directly tied to the tense exchange between Itsaragrisil and Bosch on November 4, 2025.
Itsaragrisil, who also serves as vice president for Asia and Oceania of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and owner of the Miss Universe Thailand franchise, was involved in a heated confrontation with Bosch during the sashing ceremony of the 74th Miss Universe at a hotel ballroom in Thailand.
A video that circulated widely on social media showed the interaction, where Bosch walked out of the room with several contestants after claiming she had been humiliated by Itsaragrisil for missing a sponsor shoot but participating in a Telemundo video shoot. Bosch said she felt disrespected, alleging that Itsaragrisil called her “dumb.”
In an interview with pageant fans at the time, Bosch stated, “He called me ‘dumb’ because of his issue with the organization, and I think that’s unfair… we are all empowered women.”
In his December 2 statement, Itsaragrisil insisted he never used the term “dumbhead,” claiming the word he said was “damage”—a remark supposedly directed at Bosch’s alleged refusal to follow the instructions of her national director.
“What he said was ‘damage,’ which is clearly audible in the voice recordings that have already been widely circulated across various platforms,” the statement read.
The statement continued: “However, when Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez walked out of the room, she immediately made a false accusation in front of the media… Even after she later became aware of the facts, she did not apologize.”
Itsaragrisil also accused Bosch of continuing to “misrepresent the incident” even after winning the Miss Universe crown on November 21.
The MGI statement warned that further defamatory remarks from Bosch—or media outlets repeating her claims—may lead to additional legal action.
“We request that all media outlets exercise caution… Failure to do so may result in legal action against such media entities as co-conspirators in defamation,” the statement said.
As of writing, Bosch’s camp has yet to issue a response to the criminal complaint or to Itsaragrisil’s latest statement.
Following the November 4 confrontation, Miss Universe Mexico earlier defended Bosch, calling the incident “unacceptable.” Itsaragrisil later issued an apology via livestream, but the Miss Universe Organization subsequently limited his participation in the remainder of the pageant.
The 74th Miss Universe pageant, held in Bangkok on November 21, faced multiple controversies leading up to coronation night. Bosch ultimately won the Miss Universe 2025 title, while the Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo finished as 3rd runner-up.
