The rumored rift between Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda and ‘PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition’ alumna Shuvee Etrata appears to have been put to rest after an emotional exchange during the Grand Media Conference of their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 entry, ‘Call Me Mother’, held on December 4.

During the mediacon, Shuvee openly expressed her gratitude to Vice, describing him as her guiding force in the industry and even calling him her “mother” in showbiz.
Sharing her journey, Shuvee admitted that navigating showbiz was difficult until Vice stepped in as her mentor.

“Siguro po si Meme. As I navigate kasi my way sa stardom, marami akong hindi alam. Meme has paved the way for me to learn, and be accountable and actually grow sa industry,” she said.
She went on to describe Vice as a stabilizing presence: “He was like the lighting torch, he was like the guidance. Naging guidance po ikaw Meme para malaman kung saan ako lulugar, saan ako dapat pupunta. Naging guide ko po si Meme. In a way, siya po naging mother ko sa industry.”
Vice was visibly touched by Shuvee’s words and thanked her for allowing him to mentor her, including having difficult but necessary conversations.
“Thank you rin kay Shuvee kasi inaallow niya ako na ganun, na pinapayagan niya ako na kausapin ko siya, na pwede ko siya pagalitan, na pwede ko siya pagsabihan,” Vice said.

He added that their relationship deepened over time: “Marami na kaming pinagdaanan, marami na kaming napagusapan, marami na kaming nasabi sa isa’t isa. Kapag may nararamdaman kami sa isa’t isa, pwede na naming sabihin sa isa’t isa and pwede namin iresolve ng tayo lang ito.”
Vice emphasized that their connection remains strong despite online noise: “Love ko iyan si Shuvee kaya sabi ko, ‘Wag tayo malulunod sa ingay and kailangan tayong dalawa magkaintindihan tayo.’ Nagkakaintindihan kaming dalawa ni Shuvee.”
Moved by Vice’s words, Shuvee turned emotional as she expressed how deeply he has influenced her personal and professional life.
“Meme is Meme. I’m happy to be given this chance na makabreathe the same air sa Meme. Talaga pong si Meme hindi lang siya si Meme, marami na po siyang nabagong buhay and binago niya ang buhay ko sa pagiging artista ko po,” she said.
She also reflected on how much she has learned under Vice’s mentorship: “Nagsimula kami sa PBB na hindi namin alam pinagagawa namin sa buhay. Ngayon narealize ko na ang mundong ito ay madali as long as you let them. You let them teach you, you let them guide you and actually you learn to be accountable and learn from your mistakes and always look up to the person who you always value the most. I love you.”
Their heartfelt interaction comes after speculation resurfaced online about a possible falling-out between the two—sparked by Shuvee’s old post about the ABS-CBN shutdown and a viral “totropahin or jojowain” clip involving Vice.

In a previous interview, Shuvee clarified: “I was really against the shutdown of ABS-CBN… I even tweeted na ABS-CBN is a culture—you’re taking something from us the people.”
She also explained that her viral comment about Vice was taken out of context, saying the two of them are both girls and it did not imply anything beyond that.
Shuvee added that she directly messaged Vice to clear things up: “Gusto ko lang din iclarify yung side ko na, ‘Meme, I was always honest about my feelings to you, I never lied. I’ll wait, I’m here to wait naman.’”
Vice Ganda and Shuvee co-star in the Jun Lana–directed film alongside a powerhouse ensemble cast featuring:
Nadine Lustre, Brent Manalo, Mika Salamanca, Klarisse De Guzman, River Joseph, Esnyr, MC Muah, Iyah Mina, Divine Tetay, John Lapus, Carmi Martin, Chanda Romero, Ces Quesada, and Lucas Andalio.
The movie premieres exclusively in cinemas on Christmas Day, as one of the official entries of MMFF 2025.
