Actress Andrea Brillantes opened up about the darkest period of her life and how she slowly found healing during a candid conversation on Edward Barber’s newly launched podcast, The Painfully Human.

In the episode, Edward described Andrea—also known as Blythe—as one of the most misunderstood celebrities in the local entertainment industry, prompting him to give her space to address long-standing misconceptions about her.
Andrea recalled a moment when she felt completely broken, describing it as the point where she believed it was already the “end of the world” for her.
She emphasized that she had already tried every possible outlet for her pain—clarifying that she never turned to drugs—before finally surrendering everything to God.
“Wala na ’kong pagkakapitan, hindi ko na alam saan ako kakapit ngayon… du’n ako at peace,” she said, recalling how she felt an overwhelming sense of calm despite feeling completely empty.
Andrea explained that while her problems did not instantly disappear, she gained reassurance that she was no longer carrying them alone.
The actress was also honest about her ongoing struggles, admitting that she still experiences moments where she backslides into old habits and toxic patterns.
She stressed that her faith journey is not about appearing holy or perfect, but about actively trying to change.
“Hindi ako nagchu-church dahil perfect ako. Nagchu-church ako kasi sobrang sama ko at gusto kong maging mabait,” she said, adding that breaking toxic mindsets remains a difficult but necessary process.
Andrea also clarified that she chose to share her story not to clean her image or raise expectations from the public.

She admitted that one of her biggest fears is being judged for not meeting the expectations people place on her once they see her faith.
“Ang hirap ng life… ang hirap maging mabait minsan, ang hirap magpatawad, ang hirap lunukin ’yung pride mo,” Andrea said, reflecting on the challenges of personal growth.
Andrea also acknowledged that she has long felt misunderstood, a sentiment Edward echoed during the conversation. Having started in showbiz at just seven years old, she said the pressure to grow up quickly only intensified public scrutiny.
