Kapuso TV host-comedian Boobay collapsed and briefly lost consciousness while performing on stage during the Basudani Festival in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro on Monday, January 19.

Videos circulating on social media show Boobay appearing dizzy at the start of his set. Before beginning his second song, he suddenly stopped, staggered, and eventually fell onstage. Medics immediately rushed to his aid and carried him backstage.
As Boobay was being attended to, his close friend and show partner Super Tekla went onstage to calm the audience and keep the program running.
“Magiging okay ’yan. Part po ’yan ng ano ni Boobay, ng kanyang sakit. Tuluy-tuloy tayo, kaya nandito po ako to (substitute) and everything,” Tekla told the crowd.
“Just relax, guys. Okay lang po ’yan. After five minutes babalik din po ’yan. Para ’yang computer, nagsha-shutdown sa sobrang gamit. Ayaw kasing magpahinga ng gaga.”
After a few minutes, Boobay returned to the stage and resumed his performance as if nothing had happened, even managing to crack jokes with Tekla.
“Ito kasi, paano binanggit-banggit mo kasi si Lord kanina, ayan tuloy dumiretso ako,” Boobay joked.
“Bakla ka, dapat hindi mo binabanggit ’yon… kasalanan mo ’yon.”
Tekla fired back humorously, prompting more banter between the two.
“Ito na lalabas na siya kasi kailangan niyang kantahin ’to. Kapag kasi hindi ko nakanta ’to, hindi kumpleto ’yung suweldo ko ngayong gabi,” Boobay added, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Despite the lighthearted exchange, many netizens expressed concern for Boobay’s health, noting that this was not the first time he collapsed during a live performance. Several urged the comedian to slow down and prioritize his well-being.
“Health is wealth, Boobay. Kailangan mo talagang magpahinga,” one netizen wrote.
“Nakakatakot kasi madalas na siyang ganyan. Sana mag-limit muna siya ng events,” another commented.
Boobay previously experienced a silent seizure during a live guesting on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on April 21, 2023. He also collapsed while performing at a fiesta in Aparri, Cagayan, in a separate incident witnessed by the public.
