Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes has finally addressed long-standing speculation about a possible political career, making it clear that he has no intention of entering politics.

In a recent episode of the YouTube talk show Janno & Bing, hosted by Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga, the topic came up following a discussion about Dantes’ leadership roles in various organizations and advocacy groups. Gibbs pointed out Dantes’ past association with former president Benigno Aquino III and asked if he had ever considered running for public office.
“You’re close to PNoy before, wala bang plan? Kasi kapag tumakbo ka, iboboto kita. Totoo ’yon,” Gibbs said.
Dantes responded by emphasizing that his work is rooted in service, but not through politics.
“For me, malinaw na I’m doing this for the love of the community. Of course, lahat ’to ay sa aking desire to serve,” he explained. “Pero may iba-iba namang paraan to show that service.”
He added that entering politics is not something he sees for himself. “Being in that arena, in politics to be particular, is something that I don’t want. I have more freedom doing these things as a private citizen, as a member of the community. And sa tingin ko, dito ako nilagay.”
Dantes’ statement puts to rest recent predictions, including claims by self-styled seer Jay Costura, that the actor would eventually pursue a political career.
His wife, Marian Rivera, expressed pride in Dantes’ work and advocacy, saying she fully supports his efforts to serve the community through initiatives like Aktor PH and other causes. “Nakaka-proud na ito ’yung kasama ko sa buhay,” she said, adding that she continues to stand by him in all his endeavors.
Dantes and Rivera recently celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary and were named Most Influential Celebrities at the 11th EdukCircle Awards. Dantes currently hosts ‘Family Feud Philippines’, ‘Amazing Earth’, and ‘The Voice Kids Philippines’, and is set to star in the upcoming series ‘Master Cutter’.
