Former actor Edward Barber has officially taken a new path in his life after being formally ordained as a pastor at Favor Church Manila.
The church announced Barber’s ordination through its official social media accounts, sharing photos of the ceremony where he was seen proudly holding his certificate. He was among those ordained during the church’s Leaders Advance held last Saturday.
“Last Saturday, during our Leaders Advance, we ordained our new pastors and pastors in training — acknowledging the call of ministry on their lives and commissioning them for the work God has entrusted to them,” Favor Church Manila said in its post.
“We honor their yes and heart for Jesus and Favor Church! Keep them in your prayers as they step into this season. We have an exciting year ahead, church!”
In a separate post, the church congratulated Barber directly, writing: “Congratulations to Ps. Edward Barber on your ordination as a pastor at Favor Church Manila! Wishing you wisdom, strength, and blessings as you shepherd and inspire many.”
Barber first rose to fame after joining ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7’ in 2016, where he later formed a popular loveteam with fellow housemate Maymay Entrata. Following years in showbiz, he gradually stepped away from acting.
In 2022, Barber publicly shared that he was studying to become a pastor, explaining that he had found his purpose beyond entertainment and felt called to return to church ministry. His ordination marks the fulfillment of that decision, underscoring that his shift was driven by faith and calling rather than career considerations.
