An alleged confrontation between John Lloyd Cruz and Robi Domingo at the wedding reception of Zanjoe Marudo and Ria Atayde has become the subject of online buzz after showbiz insider Ogie Diaz shared details of the incident on his program ‘Showbiz Updates’.
According to Diaz, the incident allegedly took place during the couple’s private wedding reception on December 23, where guests were requested to place their mobile phones in pouches to ensure privacy and allow everyone to “mag-enjoy sila.”
Diaz said that Robi Domingo, who was one of the hosts of the reception, made lighthearted remarks while onstage, asking the newlyweds, “How does it feel to be Mrs. Marudo?” and “How does it feel to be Mr. Atayde?” The comments reportedly drew laughter from guests, including the couple themselves.
However, Diaz claimed that after stepping down from the stage, Domingo was allegedly approached by John Lloyd Cruz, who confronted him over the remarks.
According to Diaz, Cruz allegedly raised his voice and said, “Mali ’yong sinasabi mo, ha. Napaka-inappropriate ’yong sinabi mo. Okay lang ba sa ’yo na tawaging Mr. Atayde?”
Diaz further claimed that Domingo responded, “May isyu ba tayo?” to which Cruz allegedly replied, “Bakit? Anong gusto mong mangyari?” while appearing to move toward him.
The exchange reportedly drew the attention of guests at the venue due to Cruz’s raised voice. Diaz said that Donny Pangilinan intervened to de-escalate the situation and urged both parties to give the moment back to the newlyweds.
“Feeling nung nakakita, nag-aabang lang si Robi kung uundayan siya ng suntok ni John Lloyd,” Diaz said, adding that no physical altercation occurred as the situation was quickly diffused.
