Former television journalist Nico Waje has resurfaced on social media after nearly three months of silence, prompting renewed speculation among netizens over rumors previously linked to his name.

Waje, formerly a reporter for GMA Network, last posted on TikTok on October 22, 2025. He returned to the platform on Sunday, January 25, with a new video that quickly drew attention and mixed reactions online.
The post came amid circulating blind items about an unnamed news personality who was allegedly dismissed from work following sensitive complaints from female colleagues. The rumors gained traction after Philippine Entertainment Portal reported that Waje had recently been introduced as a “former GMA news reporter” at an event—surprising fans who had seen him attend the GMA Gala 2025 just months earlier.
In his latest TikTok video, Waje is seen playing with his pet dog while a song plays in the background. The audio used was “Babaero” by Syntetiko, with Waje lip-syncing lines widely interpreted as a subtle response to the rumors.
The lyrics heard in the clip include: “Dapat mo nang malaman na wala lang ang mga sinasabi ng makakating labi… Oh, ba-babaero daw ako. Di naman totoo, yeah, hindi naman totoo, ’di naman totoo.”
The video immediately triggered a flood of comments, with many netizens reading it as a denial of the allegations being associated with him.
One follower wrote, “been so long. i hope it is not true. rooting for you.” Waje responded with three finger-heart emojis.
Others continued to press him for clarity, commenting: “Hindi totoo?” “Boss Nico, official statement sana para wala nang mga issue marites.” “naka balik na sya guys! I hope you are okay.”
Some users also came to his defense, citing personal encounters with the journalist. One commented, “i met him in a presscon, he’s very approachable and humble. so when the issue broke out, we were shocked. good thing he’s back—unbothered and stronger.”
Waje previously went viral during his time in broadcast journalism for his on-air presence and dedication to field reporting, particularly during storm coverage. Some fans even likened his looks to a male version of Kathryn Bernardo.
Despite the renewed attention, Waje has yet to issue any direct statement addressing the allegations or clarifying his professional status. For now, his TikTok post stands as his only visible response, leaving many questions unanswered as public curiosity continues to grow.
