Star Magic continues to highlight its thriving theater talents as Sheena Belarmino, and Vino Mabalot, and KD Estrada take center stage in two major productions, Bagets: The Musical and Spring Awakening, both now running and drawing strong audience response. 
Currently starring in Bagets: The Musical is KD Estrada, who shared how the production further strengthened his discipline as an artist.
“Just discipline and yung work ethic din, parang when you go to work you have to make sure na you know everything. You know your parts and you know what you’re supposed to be doing,” KD shared when asked about the biggest lessons he learned from the show. 
Beyond performing, KD also opened up about his dream of becoming a director. When asked which actor-director inspires him, he mentioned Hollywood influence Matthew McConaughey, and locally, “Direk Coco,” referring to Coco Martin.
Meanwhile, part of the ongoing run of Spring Awakening are Sheena Belarmino and Vino Mabalot, who both spoke about the intensity and depth of their roles.
Sheena, whose role in the musical is considered daring and far from what audiences are used to seeing from her, expressed gratitude to the creative team behind the production. “I’m really grateful for Sandbox Collective, the directors, the creatives, who really supported me all the way. Especially kasi wala akong alternate dito, every show laging ako yung nakasalang, and it’s a different experience lagi.”
She added that preparation was key: “I entered the production knowing the material way ahead… I really did my research.”
For Vino, who has worked in theater, television, and musicals, the challenge varies depending on the medium.
“Art forms that involve a screen are challenging for me because they’re out of my comfort zone. Pero if we’re talking artistic difficulty, I crave the theater; yung live audience, yung work that goes into doing it,” He said.
He further shared what makes live performance uniquely fulfilling: “Iba yung feeling telling stories and then your audience is right there, and they can feel with you, they can breathe with you. It’s difficult pero yun yung pinaka-satisfying for me.”
Both Bagets: The Musical and Spring Awakening deal with the chaos of youth—with this, the artists reflected on lessons young people continue to struggle with today. “Let kids be who they really are and try to express themselves, through any form of art,” Sheena said.
