A colorful and historic morning unfolded on February 24, 2026, as the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) held its Induction and Recognition Ceremony at the JY Hall of The Bayanihan Center by Unilab.

Leading the oath-taking ceremony were AKTOR: League of Filipino Actors Founding President and Chairman Jose Sixto “Dingdong” Dantes III and President Iza Calzado-Wintle, whose presence underscored solidarity between artists and entertainment media.
The event drew respected personalities from across the industry, including Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo, Rez Cortez, Ice Seguerra, Liza Diño-Seguerra, Pinky Tobiano, MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto, and Chris Cahilig, among others—demonstrating strong support for the organization of entertainment editors.
Dantes expressed enthusiasm over potential collaborations between AKTOR and SPEEd.
“Maraming naka-line up sa AKTOR: League of Filipino Actors this year kaya excited kaming i-share lahat ito sa SPEEd. I’m sure maraming collaborations na mangyayari kaya masayang-masaya kami para sa induction ng kanilang mga bagong officer,” he said.
He added, “Very grateful na naimbitahan kami sa makasaysayang panunumpa ng organisasyong SPEEd.”
Their participation sent a clear message of unity and shared purpose: to elevate the standards of the Philippine entertainment industry and foster stronger relationships between artists and the media.
Newly elected SPEEd President Tessa Mauricio-Ariola led the oath-taking of officers and delivered a meaningful address emphasizing the importance of bayanihan within the entertainment sector.
In her speech, she highlighted that the industry’s success depends on the collective efforts of media practitioners, artists, producers, and allied organizations. She stressed the need for unity and cooperation to further strengthen the entertainment industry and uphold high standards in entertainment journalism.
Among the newly inducted officers are Maricris Valdez-Nicasio (VP Internal), Gerardine Trillana (VP External), Ervin Santiago (Secretary), Rohn Romulo (Assistant Secretary), Dondon Sermino (Treasurer), Anna Pingol (Assistant Treasurer), Jerry Olea (Auditor), and public relations officers Nickie Wang, Janice Navida, and Neil Ramos.
Other SPEEd members include Eugene Asis, Ian Farinas, Salve Asis, Nestor Cuartero, Dinah Ventura, Jun Lalin, Nathalie Tomada, Bobby Requintina, and retired editors Dindo Balares and Rito Asilo.

Beyond the induction of new officers, the ceremony reaffirmed SPEEd’s commitment to excellence in entertainment journalism. The organization reiterated its support for initiatives that celebrate Filipino talent, including the continued strengthening of The EDDYS and other meaningful programs.
The event concluded with the recognition of organizations and individuals who have long supported SPEEd’s advocacy.
