Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza admitted that while she has some regrets about her role in the teleserye ‘Kara Mia’, she remains grateful for the experience and the lessons it brought to her career.

Forteza opened up about the project during the ‘Kanto Roundtable’ segment featured in ‘Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast’, where she joined fellow actresses Cherry Pie Picache and Jodi Sta. Maria in discussing their experiences in the entertainment industry.
During the conversation, director JP Habac asked the actresses about projects they had done that may not have worked in their favor but still taught them valuable lessons.
When it was Forteza’s turn to answer, she jokingly brought up ‘Kara Mia’, drawing laughter from the audience.
“Parang Kara Mia ba?” Forteza said, prompting cheers and laughter from those present.
The actress recalled how physically demanding some scenes were, particularly because her character Kara shared a single body with her twin Mia, played by Mika dela Cruz.
“May eksena ho kami, nasa footbridge kami. Nag-aaway kami, eh iisa lang po ‘yung katawan. So ako, ako ‘yung katawan, atras-abante akong ganyan,” she shared.
Despite finding the scenes unusual and sometimes awkward, Forteza said she still gave her best performance as part of her commitment to the craft.
“Sa bata kong ’to, marami na po akong pinagsisisihan. But again, it paid the bills,” she said.
Forteza also acknowledged the challenges she and her co-star faced while filming the series, though she emphasized that it was still a meaningful learning experience.
“Nakakatawa siya pero it’s part of the craft,” she added.
During the discussion, Sta. Maria noted that actors should still give their best even if a project may not necessarily favor them, since accepting the role comes with the responsibility of portraying it well.
Meanwhile, Picache jokingly remarked that she might have declined a similar project.
‘Kara Mia’, which aired in 2019, followed the unusual story of twin sisters who share one body, with one face positioned at the front and the other at the back—making it one of the more unconventional fantasy series in Philippine television.
