Actress Gee Canlas has confirmed that she and her husband, actor Archie Alemania, have separated after eight years of marriage.

Canlas made the revelation during her guest appearance on the talk show ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on Tuesday, March 3, where she spoke candidly about the difficult decision to end their relationship.
When host Boy Abunda directly asked her about the status of their marriage, Canlas answered simply: “Yes po.”
In the interview, the actress explained that the separation was not a decision she made lightly and that she carefully considered what mattered most in her life before deciding to leave the marriage.
“So I confirmed that we’re not together anymore, but that was not a decision that I took lightly. It’s not something na parang on a whim, ginawa nalang, or nag decide nalang ng ganun. I made sure that I was at a point in my life na I was weighing already what matters most in my life kaya tayo nandito ngayon.”
She admitted that ending the relationship was extremely painful, especially since building a family had always been one of her biggest dreams.
“Very, very hard kasi pangarap ko talaga magka-family so that was my life. For me to weigh on that na to move forward and put an end to that is something that I’m still processing until today.”
Canlas also clarified that the separation was not mutual.
“I left. I was the one who left the marriage.”
When asked whether the acts of lasciviousness case filed by Rita Daniela against Alemania in April 2025 played a role in their separation, Canlas said there was no single cause behind the breakup.
“I don’t think na it’s one specific thing. It’s not a black-and-white, one-plus-one kind of situation. Overtime, nag-accumulate yung mga bagay-bagay. So, it’s a lot of pieces that eventually cause the demise of our marriage.”
She recalled that during the time the issue surrounding her husband became widely discussed, she focused on protecting her family.
“I stayed, I really tried to fight to keep my family together ‘coz at that time, nasabihan ako na ‘you have to be strong’. So, ang nangyari was, I really didn’t have time to absorb it right away.”
“Ang sa akin is, ‘Okay, how do I save my family? How do I come through for my child? So, the whole time that was happening I lied low, kept my head down and just zeroed in on my family.”
The couple, who married in a garden wedding in Sta. Rosa, Laguna in 2018, share one child, Caleb, born in April 2019.
For Canlas, her son remains her top priority as she navigates life after the separation.
“Sa totoo lang, sobrang dami kong ano… what’s on my plate, right now my plate is literally loaded, so hindi pa siya top of mind.”
“What I can say is, ang first priority ko is Caleb. Ang first priority ko is creating a stable background for him.”
When asked if she felt anger toward Alemania, the actress became emotional as she admitted she is still processing the situation.
“I’m sad now because hindi mo naman ito pinaplano e… but I’m in the process right now of accepting what it is and ‘yung galit, being human that you are, I would be fake if I tell you na, ‘No, Tito Boy. Di ako nakaramdam [ng galit]’. But now it’s like, wala na e.”
As of writing, Archie Alemania has yet to release a statement regarding the separation.
