Awit Award nominated artist Jace Roque unveils ‘PAGBANGON’, a single that captures a profound journey of rebirth and resilience. This release marks a significant evolution in Jace’s musical style, as well as a heartfelt tribute to a beloved mentor and uncle, Direk Boy Roque.
“’PAGBANGON’ is the story of my rebirth,” shares Jace. The single was born from the depths of personal loss—the passing of Direk Boy Roque, Jace’s uncle, father figure, and guiding light. “When my uncle passed away, both my personal and professional life crumbled,” he recalls. Yet, the artist refused to yield to grief. “He prepared me to walk on my own. So, I picked myself up and fought harder than ever before.”
This persistence propelled Jace from the brink of despair to a series of hit singles and award recognitions, slowly transitioning from independent to mainstream with a hit debut album (PARADISO) under ABS-CBN Star Music (charted at number 2 on iTunes Philippines).
The single’s release is also timely with everything that is happening with the world. Jace also dedicates this single to his ABS-CBN family as an anthem to uplift our Kapamilya spirit.
A New Sound for a New Chapter
‘PAGBANGON’ reflects a bold shift from Jace’s signature Pop-EDM sound to a more Urban Pop vibe. Originally penned in English in 2019, the track was revisited in 2023 upon the encouragement of ABS-CBN Head of Creatives, Content and Operations and Co-Producer of Jace’s single, Jonathan Manalo. This led to a collaboration with singer songwriter Hazel Faith, for its Tagalog translation. “The sounds aren’t a full departure,
but an evolution,” he explains. “You’ll still hear elements of Tropical, Latin, Reggaeton, and Dance, paying homage to my heritage.”
A Message of Hope and Healing
The single conveys a powerful message: “When one life ends, another begins,” says Jace. “Our loved ones live on in our hearts. It’s up to us to lift ourselves out of the darkness and learn to live with grief. Healing takes time, and everyone has their own pace.”
Collaboration with ABS-CBN Music
‘PAGBANGON’ and his anticipated sophomore release is considered as Jace’s “first” official collaboration with ABS-CBN Music, signaling a new era. “With my debut album ‘PARADISO’, I was granted full creative control. Now, I’m teaming up with ABS-CBN Music to elevate my sound.” He also adds that with the guidance from Roxy Liquigan, ABS-CBN Music Head and Co-Executive Producer and Jonathan Manalo, this partnership promises more singles and an upcoming EP slated for release by the end of 2026.
“Working with Sir Jonathan Manalo as my co-producer is a dream come true,” Jace adds. “This collaboration is an honor and a privilege—and I cannot wait to share it with everyone.”
