Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez admitted she is still in shock after being named ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ by Esquire Philippines.
The recognition was officially announced on March 17, alongside the release of the magazine’s three-cover feature highlighting the award-winning actress.
During the unveiling event, Gutierrez expressed her gratitude and excitement over the title.
“I’m so grateful and kilig that you guys chose to have me as your ‘Sexiest Woman Alive.’”
She also revealed that the recognition came as a surprise.
“I was super surprised, pero yes agad kasi I’m aware of the ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ title.”
“I always wanted to do an ‘Esquire’ cover and hindi ko magawa-gawa. So when I heard it was ‘Esquire’, I was excited to do it.”
For Gutierrez, being “sexy” goes beyond physical appearance and is rooted in authenticity and passion.
“Being brave and parang for me authentic to who you are as a woman, the good and the bad.”
“Being passionate with the things in your life, like the people you love, your work, your advocacies. I feel like that kind of passion defines a sexy person.”
Meanwhile, her boyfriend Jericho Rosales shared his pride and admiration on social media by posting her magazine cover.
“And I’m the luckiest boy alive,” he wrote.
He added a playful message: “Congrats baba! Cheers to more snackccidents and liempo lunches + Coke together.”
Gutierrez responded in the comments: “Babuuuuuuu!!!! ily thank you.”
Aside from celebrating her milestone, Gutierrez also used the moment to voice her stance on issues affecting women, including recent misogynistic remarks made by a public official.
“Sobrang nakakagalit. Kadiri for that to be even said out loud anywhere more so to be said in a place of power and public office.”
She also praised actress Anne Curtis for speaking up.
“I really admire what she said… she really used her platform para magsalita in behalf of all the women who experienced these things.”
