After more than two decades, the iconic ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ (PBB) house in Quezon City is officially closing its doors as the long-running reality show prepares to move to a new location.

The development was confirmed by ABS-CBN Head of TV Production and Star Magic Laurenti Dyogi during a farewell gathering attended by staff, hosts, and network executives.
“It’s time. This is the time that we officially say goodbye to the house,” Dyogi said.
“We’ve sustained this for 21 years. Years back I’ve been seeing the possibility of moving out of this property. But the collab happened with Channel 7, so found good reason to keep the house,” he added.
According to Dyogi, the property where the PBB house stands has already been sold. ABS-CBN had only requested a lease extension to accommodate the recent ‘PBB Celebrity Collab’ editions with GMA Network.
Constructed in 2005, the PBB house was completed in just three months and debuted in August of the same year. Spanning 1,400 square meters, it featured two bedrooms, one bathroom, a garden, a pool, and 26 cameras operating around the clock. The structure reportedly cost P15 million to build.
Despite being originally designed to last only five years, the house stood for 21 years.
“Siyempre sad, we literally built the house 2005 so talagang nakakalungkot,” said Linggit Tan, the show’s business unit head.
Hosts Robi Domingo and Bianca Gonzalez also reflected on the impact of the house, both on the contestants and the production team.
“Witness ‘tong bahay na ‘to sa highest of the highest and lowest of the lows. Hindi lang para sa ‘kin, para sa most of the team members ng PBB,” Gonzalez said. “Life-changing house hindi lang para sa housemates pero para sa mga nasa likod ng kamera.”
“It has produced a lot of personalities, superstars and lots of stories for our kapamilyas,” Domingo added.
Despite the closure, Dyogi assured fans that ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ will continue, with plans already underway for a new season in a different location.
“For the coming season, it’s good to have a new feel naman for the new housemates. We’ve decided to move it and build a new PBB house, abangan nila kung saan ‘yung new PBB house,” he said.
“We still have the formal license for a couple of more years so talagang may aabangan pa ang mga tao, kung saan. Kung kailan, malapit na ‘yan, so abangan ninyo ang open auditions for the new season,” he added.
Details about the new house, including its location and format for the upcoming season, have yet to be announced.
