Fresh from the stellar success of Ang Mutya ng Section E seasons 1 and 2, and her big-screen breakthrough in Minamahal, “The Nation’s Mutya” Ashtine Olviga continues to prove she is one of the most remarkable stars of her generation. Now, audiences are set to witness her full range in an all-new project that cements her versatility in Viva One Originals: Ashtine, with the first episode set to premiere on March 13.
Viva One Originals is Viva One’s newest anthology series, spotlighting today’s brightest stars as they bring stories to life and explore a range of characters. Ashtine Olviga becomes the first-ever star to headline a Viva One Originals anthology. Viva One Originals: Ashtine features four original stories across four powerful genres, with one phenomenal star at the heart of it all.
Kicking off Ashtine’s anthology on March 13 is the comedy episode ‘Who’s the Boss?’ directed by RC delos Reyes. In the first installment, Ashtine delivers a fun performance as a bright, young assistant opposite comedy icon Rufa Mae Quinto, who plays a sharp-tongued CEO. When a curse swaps their bodies overnight, they must navigate each other’s lives while keeping the switch a secret to save the company. Amid the laugh-out-loud situations, the episode also explores empathy, self-discovery, and the true cost of power.
The next episode, streaming on March 20, is the romantic story ‘My Melody,’ directed by Fifth Solomon. Ashtine plays Melody, a fangirl whose world revolves around Korean artist Chanwoo (Lee Dae Won). By her side is George, her musician best friend played by Rob Deniel in his first major acting role, who has quietly loved her for years. When Chanwoo relocates to the Philippines, fate draws him into Melody’s world, sparking a budding romance. Yet with George’s unspoken feelings lingering in the background, one question remains: who will ultimately capture Melody’s heart?
Ashtine takes on one of her most intense roles yet in ‘Balik-Eskwela,’ a chilling episode inspired by a viral horror content from Book of Bad Ideas on TikTok. She portrays Moana Marie, a student whose excitement for her first day at school quickly turns into terror as she uncovers a horrifying truth about herself. Trapped between life and death, Moana must race against time to seek justice and save innocent lives. Directed by Roni S. Benaid, with Marco Gumabao and Sara Joe joining the cast, the suspense-filled episode is set for release on March 27.
Rounding out the anthology on April 4 is Joy Aquino’s family drama ‘Bahay-Bahayan,’ where Ashtine shares the screen with the country’s award-winning Optimum Star, Claudine Barretto. Ashtine plays Blessie, a fiercely independent young woman raised by her grandmother while her mother, portrayed by Claudine, worked overseas. When her mother finally comes home, the two struggle to reconnect. As they attempt to rebuild their relationship, long-buried emotions surface, along with a painful truth that could either mend their broken bond or shatter it completely.
From one story to the next, the anthology is set to mark a defining moment in Ashtine’s evolution as an actress: versatile, confident, and ready to carry stories of any scale.
Ashtine’s journey has been extraordinary: from competing in the 2016 talent search Born to Be A Star and performing in P-pop groups, to landing supporting roles and breakthrough performances on both the small and silver screen—including a Best Supporting Actress-nominated turn in MMFF’s Manila’s Finest. From these humble beginnings to star-making roles, Ashtine has undoubtedly established herself as a versatile and powerful performer.
And now, there’s more to look forward to that will show a whole new side of her talent. Get ready to see Ashtine Olviga like never before in Viva One Originals: Ashtine beginning March 13, with a new episode dropping weekly.
